Hotel Les Templiers, Luz St Sauveur

In the heart of the “Pays Toy”, the family run Hotel Les Templiers is the perfect base for discovering the Pyrenees.  Luz is at the heart of the ‘Grand Sites’ of the Hautes-Pyrenees: Lourdes, the Pic du Midi de Bigorre, the Gavarnie Cirque and the Pont d’Espagne (see map).

30 kms from Lourdes, 80 kms from Pau, and 2 hours from Toulouse and Biarritz, the traditional French mountain village of Luz-St-Sauveur is on the doorstep of the Mont Perdu World Heritage Area and the Pyrenees National Park. Situated half way between Lourdes and Gavarnie, Luz is on the an old return route from Santiago de Compostella through Gavarnie and St Savin.

Hotel Les Templiers provides a comfortable mix between tradition and modern amenities.  The front rooms have a view directly onto the fortified St André Church locally called “Eglise des Templiers”, and the mountains behind.  The back rooms have views over the town and the mountains and from the rooms in the middle you can see the castle on one side and the church on the other.  All rooms have bathrooms with a shower, washbasin and toilet. To maintain the calm atmosphere of the hotel there are no televisions in any of the rooms. There is a TV with satellite channels in the lounge.  All rooms are non-smoking, as are the public areas.

The restaurant proposes a full à la carte menu with regional specialities, buckwheat savoury galettes and sweet crepes.  Half board clients are served a three course dinner each evening.  The current menu is here (Carte Hiver 2011).
