When you are here we can help with organising all the bits and pieces you need to enjoy your holiday, book ski lessons, book a guide, organise a snow-shoe outing etc.  Here not everything has to be booked in advance, so you can wait and see how you feel before deciding which day to try snow-shoeing or which day to hire a guide for an off-piste outing. Ask us for apartment and house rental options for your group. From 650€/week. See some options here, but the best is to email us and we’ll send you photos and suggestions.

Luz Ardiden

Luz Ardiden is the perfect place to pack a lot of skiing into one or two days.  Two fast six seater lifts take you up the two main sectors of the mountain (Aulian and Bederet) giving you access to plenty of long ski runs. There are 26 runs in total, 3 black, 15 red, 4 blue (2 with panoramic views) and 4 green.  The beginners area is very nicely set up in front of the cafeteria – its much easier to navigate around the green and blue runs at Luz Ardiden than it is in Barèges for example.  There is also a nice luge run next to the kids area and a tire tube run! With 60 kms of piste there is enough to keep beginners and intermediates happy for the week.

Lift Ticket Price: Day 33.50€ (holidays), 29.90€ (outside holidays, or from the hotel), five days 167.50€ (hols)/149.50€ (outside hols), or 218€ for Grand Ski by N’Py (four station pass) with unlimited access to Pic du Midi.

Grand Tourmalet + Pic du Midi Freeride

The Domaine du Tourmalet is the largest ski field in the French Pyrenees.  With 69 pistes (5 black, 20 red, 21 blue and 23 green) you will have trouble getting around the entire domain in one day.  Add the Pic du Midi de Bigorre into the mix and you have a hugely varied and interesting ski area.  With high altitude restaurants dotted around the three mountain sides the Tourmalet ski area has everything for some superb days out, and its 10kms from Luz village to the main lift.

Lift Ticket Price: Day 41€ (Barèges-La Mongie), 59€ (+Pic du Midi unlimited), six days 218€ with unlimited access to Pic du Midi.

Gavarnie-Gedre

Situated close to the Spanish border and facing north the Gavarnie ski domain has fabulous snow, some lovely wide blue slopes along with challenging reds and blacks.  The view from the top of the Morgats button lift over the Gavarnie Cirque is not to be missed.  For beginners the 5km green run is a lovely way to begin your ski experience.

5km Green Run – longest in the Pyrenees

Lift Ticket Price: Day 26.50€ (holidays), 19.50€ for everyone outside holidays. Tickets on sale in the hotel.

Cauterets

In the neighbouring valley the Cauterets ski resort provides you with another skiing option in the Cirque de Lys.  A relatively small, but well organised ski area, Cauterets has north and east facing slopes which keep the snow very well. In Feb 2013 it had the greatest snow depth in the world!

Lift Ticket Price: Day pass 36€ or accessible with the Grand Ski by N-Py pass (218€).
