LARCHE-BRIANCON TOUR

LARCHE-BRIANÇON TOUR

Traverse across the Haute Ubaye and Queyras Valleys

READY TO SKI ?

This excellent traverse in the Southern Alps crosses the Haute Ubaye and Queyras valleys, both wonderful areas of preserved natural beauty. The first two stages are long, with the second day being very alpine. Lovely skiing that requires decent preparation and fitness, even if most nights are spent in hostels in the valley.

ITINERARY

DAY 1

We meet in Turin and will then organise transport from there (not included in the price but we will organise joint transport to optimise costs) when we have confirmed the plan. We are leaving the option for a change of destination/tour if snow conditions in the Southern Alps are not as hoped for. If all goes to plan then starting point will be Larche.

DAY 2

Leaving Larche at 1680m we head over the Col de Mallemort at 2558m, on to the Col du Vallonet at 2624m and down into the Vallon de Plate Lombarde at 2300m. Climb again up to the Pas de la Couleta at 2750m which is followed by a short descent to the Refuge Chambeyron at 2620m where we spend the night.

DAY 3

From the Refuge Chambeyron our itinerary takes us up to the Col de la Gypière at 2927m on the Italian border. We cross over and head for the Colle Infernetto at 2780m, continuing on to the Colle di Ciaslaras at 3000m and the Col de Marinet at 2780m where we re-enter France. We have a lovely descent to Maljasset at 1900m through the Vallon de Mary. We spend the night in a hostel in the valley there.

DAY 4

We leave our comfortable hostel in Maljasset, making our way up to the Col Albert at 2846m. From here we can tackle the Tête de Rissace (2969m) if all is well. Another long descent awaits us down to Ceillac at 1630m. Again we spend the night in a hostel here.

DAY 5

Departure from Ceillac towards the Col des Estronques (2650m), another decent climb, from where we can easily reach the Tête de la Jacquette at 2757m. Descent to la Chalp de St Véran at 1800m for another comfortable hostel night.

DAY 6

We have a short transfer to the Pont de Lariane at 2000m and set off from here to the Pic du Fond de Peynin at 2912m. Descent to Aiguilles at 1450m for the night in a hostel there.

DAY 7

Our last day provides a good climb to the Petit Rochebrune (3078m) and a final descent to Cervière at 1500m. Return transfer depending on departure point.

DAY 8

Transfer to Turin (organised but not included in price).
