Walk around Luz

On Wednesday we had a break in the spring rain which allowed Jacques and I to get out and write notes up for a simple walk around Luz.

We did the short version, which took us 2 hours, but we dawdled along, talked to people, took photos etc.  The walk starts from the hotel and heads up to the castle before traversing across the eastern side of the valley then heading back into the top of the village of Sère.

What is great about it is that it can be as short as 11/2 hours, or you could set off for the whole day if you do the longest option all the way up to the Cot de Yéous (1516m), above Saligos.  There are also two middle options (either going to Viscos and then heading back, or extending from Viscos to Saligos and then heading back).  So a very flexible walk which fits into the Eco Independent Walking week, or the 10 and 14 day versions of Valleys of the Lavedan.  It will also go into the Luz Welcome Pack for the Young Family and Multi-Activity weeks (which is why I took Jacques, who doesn’t particularly like walking, to test it as a good family walk).
